What does this look like for me and why does this matter? Big questions as a Healthy Home is all of this, and yet the mainstream market has given me pause to consider what the growing design trends are throughout our country.
Let’s investigate and take a dive at the design aspects coming forward. Lifestyles have changed with more work from home opportunities to consider and family togetherness that supports living in harmony with our natural environment.
Nature inspired elements are creeping into my vision as I have a new awareness of home lifestyle trends. Of course, nature and I are a given, so it’s thrilling for me to see homeowners engage in local and organic materials from which to create a healthy interior environment. So exciting to see design features that mesh with the geography and ecology of the lot, along with adding designs, that bring color and the outdoors-inside.
Another trend is called Curvy Construction, a move towards barrel-vaulted ceilings, arched entries and windows, and curves in the walkways. Design symmetry with curvy eclectic furniture and décor is another possibility. This is a step into flow for me with room contours that support individual décor and imprints from active living, and interaction between the rooms that are separate and yet are in flow for specific functions. A synergy of energy that move in invisible ways.
Glass and I have shared spaces for so many years! When I was first looking for furniture in Iran it was most often glass, as there was very little wood to be had in that environment. I gravitate towards simplicity and one-of-a-kind design; I have loved reading more about glass elements such as sliding walls and other creative additions for more indoor-outdoor living spaces. So much to consider in how glass relates to living in harmony with the environment and energy consumption.
With more opportunities to work from home, the Great Room concept is undergoing modification as well – design trends are now swinging back to more defined spaces rather than one big living space. Creating special spaces for work and entertainment are showing up in playrooms as well. I find this quite interesting, and it makes great sense for me. I appreciate keeping my focus in an area where I can organize and work quietly, while knowing my family time is just around the corner. The benefit of this work-space separation creates harmony in our time spent together.
When the trends for kitchen color came up, I had to stop and consider what that really meant to me. I have always been drawn to real wood, warm tones and mixed materials. It’s back in style and trending for 2022 and I’m thrilled to have my natural intuitiveness reinforced! Materials and colors are comforting, cozy and restful from my perspective, so allowing natural elements to create a Healthy Home environment is a portion of creating unlimited options for health.
Sanctuaries and calming bathroom spaces with minimalist designs provide a retreat-like ambiance. Soaking tubs in many shapes and sizes, separate showers, rain shower heads and natural colors all bring a calm into our environment. This trend is a portion of what represents a Healthy Home environment … and wonderful quiet and relaxing comfort.
